Synopsis

Conniving means telling fables, telling stories, but it can also mean replacing facts with fantasy without the intention of deceiving. In this piece we take this definition as a metaphor for scenic action, a piece of fantasy created jointly between the performers and the spectator, a story shared between the stage and the audience for a period of time. With no more plot than movement, we play to blur the line that separates the state of rehearsal and that of the performance: welcoming the error and the doubt in the performance; highlighting the tricks of the spectacular device, the clichés of contemporary contemporary dance with a humorous look. In a sense, it is an allusion to the pedestrian aesthetic, to the rejection of spectacularity typical of the pioneers of post-modern dance, Judson Church Dance Theater like Yvonne Rainer.
